Fully differential cross sections for the single ionization of He by C6 + ions

چکیده
We present fully differential cross sections for the single ionization of He by C6+ ions. A time-dependent close-coupling approach is used to describe the two-electron wavefunction in the field of the projectile for a range of impact parameters, and a Fourier transform approach is used to extract fully differential cross sections for a specific momentum transfer. Our calculations are compared to the measurements of Schulz et al (2003 Nature 422 48) and we find very good agreement in the scattering plane and good qualitative agreement in the perpendicular plane. In particular, our calculations in the perpendicular plane find a similar ‘double-peak’ structure in the angular distributions to those seen experimentally. We also discuss the various checks made on our calculations by comparing to a one-electron time-dependent calculation. (Some figures in this article are in colour only in the electronic version)

Single and double ionization in C6+ + He collisions
Singleand double-ionization processes in C6+ collisions with the He atom at an incident energy of 100 MeV/amu are studied by direct solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. A time-dependent close-coupling method based on an expansion of a one-electron three-dimensional wave function in the field of He+ is used to calculate single-ionization cross sections. A time-dependent close-cou...
متن کاملCalculation of the total cross section for the ionization of H, He, Ne and Ar atoms by bare ions at the high energy range
In the present work, the total cross-section for the ionization of H, He, Ne and Ar atoms by +He2+ ، H+ ، Li3 ions has been calculated. In these calculations, a binary encounter approximation in the form of a two-body process between projectile ions and atomic electrons at the high energy range has been implemented. In order to enter the nuclear role of the target atom, the atomic electron vel...
متن کاملImpact parametermethod calculations for fully differential ionization cross sections
In this work our previous fully differential ionization cross section calculations using the semiclassical, impact parameter method are improved by a new method suitable to calculate impact parameter values corresponding to different momentum transfers. This goal is achieved by two successive steps. First, using the transverse momentum balance different projectile scattering angles are calculat...
متن کاملDirect excitations of He+ and Li++ ions by collisions with protons or antiprotons
The impact parameter formalism of the single-center close-coupling, first-, and second-order Born approximations have been applied to investigate direct excitations of Helium He+(2s) and Lithium Li++(2s) ions by colliding with protons or antiprotons. The total 3s, 3p, and 3d scaled excitation cross sections are calculated in the scaled impact energy region (2 to 1000 keV). The present work aims...
متن کاملPost - Prior discrepancies in CDW - EIS calculations for ion impact ionization fully differential cross sections
In this work we present fully differential cross sections (FDCSs) calculations using post and prior version of CDW–EIS theory for helium single ionization by 100 MeV C 6+ amu −1 and 3.6 MeV amu −1 Au 24+ and Au 53+ ions. We performed our calculations for different momentum transfer and ejected electron energies. The influence of internuclear potential on the ejected electron spectra is taken in...
